Free Fruit Day

Free Fruit DayBring a bag to receive a random act of kindness of the fruity kind on Saturday 10 October. From 10am to 3pm (or until the fruit runs out), members of Growing Redhill and Transition Redhill will be on Reigate High Street. The stall will be near The Market Stores and Caffè Nero. They will re-distribute local fruit, with a take home message to “grow your own”.

The bounty for the stall will all be from local fruit and nut trees, with zero associated ‘air miles’. As well as boxes of fruit gathered before the event, local people are invited to bring unwanted fruit to the stall during the morning. The last event shared 400kg fruit – enough for 800 apple pies!

Contact us beforehand if you would like to get involved in apple picking or manning the stall – and take some fruit home too.

  1. I have a tree heaving with quinces, but no one in my family likes them. Can I bring them along or are they a bit unusual? What time would you need donations to be dropped off?

    • We would be delighted to take your quinces – I’m sure there will be plenty of people who would like to take a few home. You could bring them along to the stall any time between 10am and 3pm on 10th October (the earlier the better, I guess, but whatever time works for you). Thanks!

  2. would you accept bunches of rosem and thyme?
