The Transition Redhill Energy Group officially came into being at our launch meeting at the Garland last night. There were interesting discussions, ranging over a number of topics, and we have selected our first venture: an Energy Sevices Company (an ESCo, for short).
The ESCo will initially focus on community solar power projects, and we plan to start negotiations on the first projects soon, once we have cleared the few regulatory hurdles involved in setting up the company. So, if you have a large flat roof, and you like the idea of cheap electricity, watch this space!
Other ideas under discussion last night included energy audits of homes and/or businesses. This is something Transition Redhill has been involved in before on a small scale, quite successfully. To start it up again we would need more volunteer energy auditors (training would be provided). If you are interested in taking part, please get in touch: firstname.lastname@example.org.
