Free Fruit Day. A big thank you and a small favour

Free Fruit Day, ReigateThe annual Free Fruit Day in Reigate on Saturday was a great success again this year. Donations of fruit came from all over the area – from gardens, allotments, pub car parks. We estimate that we gave away around 400 kilos of fruit over the course of the day. Apples that would otherwise have gone to waste have been enthusiastically baked, stewed and crumbled in kitchens across the borough. Continue reading

October – Random acts of kindness

ApplesFree Fruit

Shoppers in Reigate Town Centre will receive a random act of kindness of the fruity kind on Saturday 19 October. From 10am to 3pm (or until fruit runs out!), members of Transition Redhill and Growing Redhill will be on the High Street, with a stall near The Market Stores and Caffè Nero. They will re-distribute local fruit, with a take home message to “grow your own”.
We would welcome volunteers to help picking fruit, collecting fruit donations, putting up posters and manning the stall. Please see our website for more information.

When: Saturday, 19 October 2013 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

Redhill and Reigate Food Group LogoFresh Veg

Our food group continues to expand its activities. We have now organised a Redhill delivery location for orders from the Sutton Community Farm shop. Sutton Community Farm grows and sells a large range of fresh, organic food and runs a VegBag Scheme where bags of fresh, seasonal vegetables are distributed to their delivery points every Thursday.

Please take a look at the farm shop website to see the range of produce on offer, and contact Redhill & Reigate Food Group – – for more information on our Redhill delivery point.

By the way, Sutton Community Farm are currently raising money to expand their VegBag scheme. If you think you can help, they would welcome contributions of £5 or more (in return for rewards such as free veg and an invitation to their pizza party). The fund-raising drive ends on 8 October. Please see their crowd-funding web page for more details.
