Zero Carbon BritainZero Carbon Britain

The Centre for Alternative Technology has just issued a new edition of their report ‘Zero Carbon Britain’. Like the earlier editions it shows how the UK could reduce its carbon emissions to zero by 2030. It’s been updated to include more expert input from a wide range of sources: in particular there is a lot more on land use. It’s free too as you can download it from the CAT website.

The changes outlined in the report can help us adapt to expected changes in climate, whilst helping make us resilience against those changes we can’t predict. And there are additional benefits – creating over a million jobs, having a positive impact on our economy and on our health and wellbeing both as individuals, and as a society.

Born Free FoundationAn Evening with the Born Free Foundation

Surrey Green Party is hosting an event with Will Travers and the Born Free Foundation on Monday 30 September. Food and wine included.

Set up by Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers following their starring roles in the 1966 film Born Free, the Foundation campaigns on behalf of wild animals around the globe. Will Travers will tell us about the Foundation’s campaigns to ban the ivory trade and the hunting of lions, their work to rescue animals from tiny cages and return them to the wild, and the education projects they run to inspire youngsters to respect and protect their local wildlife.

The event will be held at the South Street Wine Bar in Dorking at 7.30pm on Monday 30 September.

Tickets are £15 and include a finger buffet as well as 4 tasting glasses of Born Free Foundation’s organic wines.
